Alberta

Current Estimated Production/Land
  • 17,700 boe per day
  • 58% gas, 42% oil and liquids
  • 737,608 net developed and 580,244 net undeveloped acres
The Alberta land base is geographically diverse, with major core areas in Irricana, Millard Lake, Provost, Garrington/Westward Ho, Sylvan Lake/Medicine River, Drumheller, Brent/Hanna and Pine Creek/Edson. We are excited about the emerging Cardium resource play that is being developed in this province. The Spearpoint Energy acquisition added 896,000 gross acres of land through a wide area farm in enhancing the Corporation's Cardium position and adding significant gas opportunities to the portfolio.

2011 Plans
The Corporation plans to maintain its leadership position in the Cardium oil resource play in central Alberta and invest in selected liquids rich gas opportunities within the Corporation's portfolio. Cardium oil projects will continue to be a focus for the Garrington/Westward Ho core area, as will delineating trend acreage to the south at Lochend (Cochrane).

For natural gas, the Corporation recently commenced production from a high working interest Cretaceous gas well in the Edson area that is producing at a restricted rate of 8MMcfd.

There are several additional opportunities in this play that will be drilled in 2011. In addition, three non-operated, high deliverability and liquids rich Falher horizontal gas wells were drilled in the Kakwa area in 2010. Two of these wells also had initial flow capability in excess of 10MMcfd, while the third well was drilled in late Q4 and awaits completion. Several additional drilling locations in this play are planned by the operator in 2011.

NAL also continues to engage in selective strategic partnerships with junior oil and gas companies in this area in order to share the risk and upside of testing new plays and pushing existing play boundaries.
